Here at Sci-Fi, our registration is handled by the University's registration system. This means that registration is not handled by us, so please direct these questions to the registration office.

For questions about registration, please call the registration office at 1 (306) 966-5539

For Saskatoon camps, we are located on the first floor of the Engineering building at the U of S which is at 57 Campus Drive (the red brick building).  The camp runs from 9-4 each day, but we recommend you come at least 15 minutes early on the first day to check-in.  The campers MUST bring a nut free lunch.  We have arranged for free parking in the parking lot north of Engineering called "Y lot") during drop off and pick up.  I would recommend entering the U of S Campus via Preston, then taking East Road, this will lead immediately to Y lot on your right after a few seconds, or you could skip that and curve right onto Campus Drive and you then will immediately see the red brick Engineering building on your left.

All of this information and more can be found in the Parent Info Package.

The prices for summer camps in 2017 are:

4-Day Camps - $235

5-Day Camps - $265

Note: The following camps are exceptions to the above prices

Tesla - $295

Raspberry Pi - $365 (take $100 off if camper already owns Raspberry Pi)

Camp runs from 9am to 4pm.  There is an optional extended hours program for parents that need to drop their children off as early as 8am, and pick up as late as 5:15pm.

Good question! For our summer camp programs, please enter the grade your child is entering next fall. For example, if Jennifer is in Grade 2 in the spring of 2017, she is entering Grade 3 in the fall of 2017 and is therefore old enough to register in the grade 3-4 camps.

If Tim is in Grade 9 in the spring of 2017, he is entering Grade 10 in the fall and is therefore too old to attend our programs (he should then volunteer as a Counsellor in Trainig (CIT)).

For our fall & spring club programs, please enter the grade your child is currently in.

Absolutely not! We make a strong effort during May and June to generate exciting new projects that campers have never seen before. While some core activities remain the same (like Lego Robotics in our Technology Camps), campers returning year-to-year will have a completely different experience every summer!
Again, absolutely not! With the exception of the occasional project that is too large to transport, camps delivered in locations throughout Saskatchewan (see our Satellite Camps page) have exactly the same high-quality, exciting projects we have in Saskatoon.
Each year we have to contact schools and community centres where we run our camp locations to confirm dates and space availability. This process means that, on average, online registration for Satellite Camps opens about a month later than online registration for Saskatoon.

Our Instructors at SCI-FI Science Camps are University of Saskatchewan students with a strong background in science or technology. We hire students from a variety of disciplines - Engineering, Education, Physics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, and more - so long as they can demonstrate to us their interest in science and technology and desire to share it with youth. We make every effort to hire a dynamic, fun, and well-qualified staff to work at our programs.

Our Instructors are all certified in CPR-C and Emergency First Aid, and must present a satisfactory Criminal Background Check before working with campers

With more than 2 weeks notice, we will refund the cost of camp minus a $50 non-refundable deposit.  With less than 2 weeks to camp, no refund will be given. To refund a camp, call 306-966-5539.

Yes, every year we do provide full and partial bursaries to many campers.  You can registery by phone without paying if you are applying for a bursary. We apply to large sponsors to help pay for camp and clubs bursaries every year, but we never receive enough to cover all of the bursary applicants. We also provide a number of bursaries to programs like the Saskatoon Open Door Society and to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saskatoon to distribute at their discretion.

SCI-FI Science Camps is dedicated to presenting science, engineering and technology to elementary school-aged youth in a fun and interactive manner. We do this through classroom workshops in May and June, week-long summer camps in July and August, and Saturday Science Clubs during the school year. By presenting these topics in a fun, hands-on environment, we hope to increase students' science and technological literacy, as well as demonstrate that these topics are both fun and relevant!

We believe that our programs should be accessible to all youth, regardless of geographic location, race, gender, or financial situation. Through the generous support of our funders, we are able to deliver our programs in over a dozen locations across Saskatchewan, and provide financial bursaries to those who would not otherwise be able to attend.

Unfortunately not! The price of a Lego Mindstorms kit is approximately double the cost of camp. Sorry!

Lego Mindstorms kits can be purchased locally at some stores like Toys 'R Us . We recommend calling ahead to check availability. Kits can also be purchased online at www.lego.com.
